Exploring life, fashionably and beautifully.

A refreshing switch from fall’s thick leather boots and booties is the adorable leather or suede oxford-inspired lace-up wedge. It’s true and total sweetheart style. Transition your summer clothes into fall by pairing them with thick wool tights and flirty skirts, cuffed trouser shorts, and rolled up denim. It’s an unconventional twist on an old-fashioned staple piece that will give both a retro-feel and hipster edge to anyone’s ordinary, everyday style.

For the Splurge: These Leather Oxford Wedges by Miu Miu are the perfectly polished pick in taupe and toffee leather. This pair is just perfect for the office and with the sturdy platform you can be sure that you will be as stable as you are stylish.

For the Save: At a super steal, these Camel Faux Suede Lace-up Peep Toe Slingback Wedge Heels from Urban Outfitters will do the job of keeping you comfortable and cushioned no matter where the day may lead. Pair them with your favorite denim jeans or an adorable set of printed and cuffed shorts.

Look at that. It’s beautiful. Beautiful!

Okay, it’s either the excitement of finally getting something from my Missoni for Target order or all the Coke Zero Cherry I’ve had. Pretty frickin’ exciting.

Surprisingly, the quality isn’t too bad either. The tote is cotton and the straps and bottom are a sturdy faux leather with metal feet to protect the bottom! I can’t remember a single Target bag I’ve looked at that has feet, even real leather bags from Isaac Mizrahi. (I miss him designing for Target. Come back, Isaac! Target, pay him more money.)

The scarf is wearable and pretty awesome from a distance. You have to get it in your hands to see that it’s 1) not 100% wool, 2) unsuitable as a 0-degree-winter scarf, and 3) pretty thin. Thankfully, I don’t live in a 0-degree-winter area and this scarf worked well enough when I was running around downtown last night. Only my arms were cold! (Because they weren’t covered.)

And look! Even Buddy likes the stuff, too. He sniffed the scarf for a good five minutes and now he’s sitting on the bag.

What other Missoni for Target items am I waiting for? Another four. Sigh.

Supposedly, the flats won’t be shipped until mid-October. Who can wait that long?!! I just hope they’re worth it. The black and white sweater is coming next week and the other stuff is coming whenever Target gets their shit together.

I’ll complain about Target after I receive everything. ;)

How was your experience with Missoni for Target? What did you get?

If you know me, or if you’ve ever looked this blog, you may have noticed I don’t mention hats much. There’s a good reason for this: I don’t understand hats. It sounds silly, like how do you not understand an accessory that has been around since the dawn of man, but I really don’t. Head coverings completely baffle me – even scarves. I’m like what? Huh? How do you wrap this thing around my hair? How does it not slip off the hair? Why does this fedora/newsboy cap/floppy straw hat not look good on me? Is it my head? It is the shape? Is it my fat? Is it my hair? Is it the hat itself? What is it??

But hats are one of things I can’t help but reach for at Target. (And only Target for some reason.) I have yet to find a single hat that works on me. They either look ridiculous like my head is misshapen or the brim is too narrow for my ginormous forehead. (I don’t have a ginormous forehead either. The hat just makes it look so!)

I don’t know.

But just for you guys, I actually took photos of me in hats this past weekend.

I don't even know what kind of hat this is. I just like the neutral color.

I was trying to be Woo! Girl here, a la How I Met Your Mother.

You want to know the funny thing? I like the hat selection in the men’s side the most. Women’s hats are always so… patterned. I like patterns on my clothes, not my head!

What about you? What are your favorite hats to wear? What do you look for in a hat? Are you as hat-handicapped as I am?

Ideeli. Rue La La. Beyond the Rack. Modnique. These are just some of the flash sales sites I check on a daily basis. Though I love shopping, I always feel a little guilty because, here I am, spending all this money on myself when a lot of people in this world, in this country, in this city, can’t afford to do the same. These aren’t even things I need. But a new flash sale site now exists to help alleviate some of my guilt: LovingEco.

What is LovingEco and why does it help with my consumerism dilemma? Think of Ideeli but smaller, with four or five sales opening just twice a week, where a percentage of your spending goes to a charity. At the same time, the items you purchase are eco-friendly, fair trade, vegan, organic, and/or cruelty-free! So you basically support two great organizations at the same time – and get yourself something pretty, too.

Monday’s sales include: SIGG Water Bottles, Eberjey lingerie, and Margaret Rowe couture jewelry.

I especially love this Margaret Rowe piece for its glam yet lady-like ambience:

Margaret Rowe shimmering nouveau solo-bloom earrings

$57 (originally $114)
3% of net proceeds go to Global Green USA

Not excited about LovingEco yet? What if I said you can get $5 off a $50 purchase? Use “PinInstant5″ when you’re checking out! That’s another 10% off!

Let me know what you think of the site and if you get anything. I love seeing other people’s purchases!

I love the reusable bag. Such unexpected cute packaging!

Thanks, mimosas in bed!
