If you know me, or if you’ve ever looked this blog, you may have noticed I don’t mention hats much. There’s a good reason for this: I don’t understand hats. It sounds silly, like how do you not understand an accessory that has been around since the dawn of man, but I really don’t. Head coverings completely baffle me – even scarves. I’m like what? Huh? How do you wrap this thing around my hair? How does it not slip off the hair? Why does this fedora/newsboy cap/floppy straw hat not look good on me? Is it my head? It is the shape? Is it my fat? Is it my hair? Is it the hat itself? What is it??
But hats are one of things I can’t help but reach for at Target. (And only Target for some reason.) I have yet to find a single hat that works on me. They either look ridiculous like my head is misshapen or the brim is too narrow for my ginormous forehead. (I don’t have a ginormous forehead either. The hat just makes it look so!)
I don’t know.
But just for you guys, I actually took photos of me in hats this past weekend.

I don't even know what kind of hat this is. I just like the neutral color.

I was trying to be Woo! Girl here, a la How I Met Your Mother.
You want to know the funny thing? I like the hat selection in the men’s side the most. Women’s hats are always so… patterned. I like patterns on my clothes, not my head!
What about you? What are your favorite hats to wear? What do you look for in a hat? Are you as hat-handicapped as I am?
Yeah, I know, summer technically ended about a week ago. San Francisco hasn’t had more than three days of heat during the entire summer until after summer ended. But since the weekend, it’s been 80s! 90s! 70s! I haven’t had to wear a coat or a jacket to work this entire week – my cardigan today is the first second layer I needed. This is our summer. (The weather forecast is 70s all through next week. SUMMER!)
I think sandals would have looked better with today’s outfit, certainly more summery, but I actually don’t own any. No, I take that back. I own a pair of gladiator sandals but I don’t think they’re suitable for the office. I’m always afraid I have ugly feet because I don’t get pedicures or anything so I don’t like to wear or buy sandals… My toes are okay; they’re not the issue. It’s my heels. Calluses!
Cardigan: Banana Republic
Top: H&M
Skirt: Jean Paul Gaultier for Target
Flats: Cole Haan
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

This is another outfit I threw together before running out the door. If I had a chance to look in the mirror, I would have changed. I’ve worn these pants to work before and thought they worked but barely. I feel like they’re too skinny to be business appropriate, even if my office is business casual. With a more formal top, it’s fine. But today’s top is really quite casual with a boho-chic thing going for it. I couldn’t find my black heels either so I ended up in these bronze wedges for what formality they can add to the outfit. Wedges are better than flats, right?
How would you make the outfit business appropriate? I would have added a black blazer but I actually don’t have one that fits. My boobs are hard to dress!
Top: Old Navy
Pants: J. Crew
Shoes: Target

We were supposed to meet with another company at work today so I gussied up. It’s strange how my dressing up looks very lady-like but my dressing down is jeans and a T-shirt. Not lady-like at all. And then I wonder how someone would describe my normal office outfit of cardigan, tank/camisole and sweater. I don’t think I look this put together on most days.
My favorite part of this outfit is the dress, with its unexpected pleating detail on the side. And my shoes! I haven’t worn nice heels in ages (boots don’t count); I always forget how much more elegant/statuesque I feel in them. (Wow, my calves look tiny in this photo! They definitely don’t look like this in real life. It must be the angle.)
Dress: Target Mossimo (I prefer Mossimo a lot more than Merona, which is fuddy duddy textures and cuts.)
Necklace & Bracelet: H&M
Shoes: Me Too

Today’s outfit is one I just grabbed while rushing to get ready in the morning. Can you believe this: I woke up at 5 am because Mr. Pintucked left for work. I stayed up for a few hours, thinking I could have a leisurely morning. And then Ifell back asleep, only to wake up with just enough time to get ready. Ugh.
If I had the time, I would have accessorized. What accessories would you have worn with this outfit?
Sweater: Banana Republic (it fit tighter in the dressing room; I don’t know what happened)
Pants: GAP
Shoes: Cole Haan
