Exploring life, fashionably and beautifully.

If you know me, or if you’ve ever looked this blog, you may have noticed I don’t mention hats much. There’s a good reason for this: I don’t understand hats. It sounds silly, like how do you not understand an accessory that has been around since the dawn of man, but I really don’t. Head coverings completely baffle me – even scarves. I’m like what? Huh? How do you wrap this thing around my hair? How does it not slip off the hair? Why does this fedora/newsboy cap/floppy straw hat not look good on me? Is it my head? It is the shape? Is it my fat? Is it my hair? Is it the hat itself? What is it??

But hats are one of things I can’t help but reach for at Target. (And only Target for some reason.) I have yet to find a single hat that works on me. They either look ridiculous like my head is misshapen or the brim is too narrow for my ginormous forehead. (I don’t have a ginormous forehead either. The hat just makes it look so!)

I don’t know.

But just for you guys, I actually took photos of me in hats this past weekend.

I don't even know what kind of hat this is. I just like the neutral color.

I was trying to be Woo! Girl here, a la How I Met Your Mother.

You want to know the funny thing? I like the hat selection in the men’s side the most. Women’s hats are always so… patterned. I like patterns on my clothes, not my head!

What about you? What are your favorite hats to wear? What do you look for in a hat? Are you as hat-handicapped as I am?

I’ve been looking for a new hat to keep the sun off! I think the second one you tried is cute.

Hey Amy! I loved meeting you at the swap last week. Did you get some good stuff??

I suffer from hat-confusion as well. There is just something that always seems… off… when I try to wear them. I mean, aside from cowgirl hats that is (and I usually only wear those for line dancing or country music concerts…). But then my friend Anthea was telling me about all of her hats… and now I think I want to try again. I mean… they keep you warmer right? That’s gotta be good in this crazy climate!

P.S. I love the cowgirl hat on you. And why have I never watched How I Met Your Mother? So many cool peeps say it’s good.

Hi Chelsea! I did get some good stuff. I was greedy and grabbed a bunch of the Lulu’s earrings though they’re all similar. But the best part is the black bag you were so nice to pass to me! I didn’t realize it at the time but it is real leather with protective feet and good-quality hardware.

Hats are good for the winter/fall but those beanies always make me look like a Q-tip.

Ooooh it was real leather?? What a delightful surprise! I knew it was a
quality piece when I grabbed it (real leather or faux), but since it wasn’t
quite what I’m looking for in a black bag, I knew you’d be happier with it
        :)

I scored some awesome stuff too! A real suede skirt by Isaac Mizrahi for
Target… so not dying over the amazing brand, but it’s adorable… and a
couple of other stuff I’ll show off on the blog soon.

You are not alone!  Head coverings mystify me, too.  Scarves tied around my head look idiotic and headbands sproing right off the back of my head, no joke.  I do ok with hats, but it takes the right style, for sure.  I think you look super cute in that cowgirl hat, rock it!

I find it hard to believe you have headwear issues! I don’t suppose you got one at the swap?

Nope, I wish!  I do need a new summer hat…
